UNDER THE OVERPASS( practical exercise referring to Gilles Deleuze FRAME & SHOT)


UNDER THE OVERPASS
                       In the beginning camera moves to left which composes the space under a metro overpass - the apartments in the back ground, overpass in the mid ground and the vehicles moving in the foreground-the spatial composition of diagonals and parallels constitutes the frame here. The visual information in the foreground (movement of vehicles) extends to an other space. The  closed system evolve to a new unseen set which exists in the other side. By the camera moves from left to right the out of field space is unfolding in time-modifying the respective position of the set. Here the frame comprising many parts the scrap store, movement of workers doing their daily work and the natural light- an absolute change from the other space. The sound of metro unfolding an unseen space in opposite direction. The movement to the other direction decomposed into relative movements-distribution between the elements. Both sides of the overpass encompass different lives which is united by a fine thread which is the metro overpass. The vehicles are the general movement in both directions. The movements composed ,decomposed and recomposed when it is established between the parts of the set. The ending of the shot reveals the overpass, recomposing the frame by composing the both sides like the movement which continuously ensures conversion, circulation. These movements generated a qualitative difference in the frame, the whole frame is continuously divided and reunited the objects into a single space  in the end of shot. The apartments, overpass and the peoples passing the road which are blended into a single perception-humanized nature. 
                                                                                                             This shot is framed by focusing only on one side of the overpass initialy, leaving an information of the other side (movement of vehicles). By (00:45) revealing the other side, (00.54) sound of metro unfolding an unseen space and in the end recomposing both the sides of metro overpass.

  This clip shows the camera as a human eye wondering through the area much like a POV structure. Through this video we shall discuss movement and frame, how the frame divide into subsets or parts and how it contributes or connects to the whole referring to Deleuze. A frame is a "closed system", comprising many parts. The sets, characters, props, lighting etc., play a very crucial role in establishing the pivotal character, or the purpose, of the frame. A frame, or the set established to construct and articulate the frame, has a great number of parts - ‘sub-sets’ or parts. They may be composed in various ways, 'Parallels & Diagonals' being a very intricate way to establish a frame to look up to. Frame, Shot, Movement, and Deleuzion

 December 30, 2024 The video attached above was shot at the ropeway line in Darjeeling. The ropeway system, or machinery, is visible on the top left corner of the screen, emphasising the movement of gears and levers which form the basis for the ropeway system within the frame itself. The opening minute or so of the video refers to Gilles Deleuze’s idea of composition, where we familiarise ourselves with the different elements at play here (the ropeway car, the passengers waiting inside, the machinery of the ropeway system itself, the people waiting outside for their turn, as well as the layout of the location itself.) This shot, despite its stillness, depicts dynamism within it and creates a level  of meaning through how the different elements find themselves arranged on the frame.
